Hello Everyone, I will try to get to the point and make this brief. My DD is 4 1/2 months and fully breast fed, about 1 month ago she started coming on and off the breast, thrashing about after only 2 - 3 minutes of sucking on each side. I am guessing that she had drained me in that short period of time. As she would not stay on the breast I would lift her up and she would scream and arch her back, I would then pick her up and rock her for about 1-2 minutes and then she was happy as anything. I was told by the CHN today that even though she is not continually crying she may still be hungry but her mind is distracted so she will not continually cry. I have also been told that you always know a hungry baby as they are very unsettled and will not stop crying. What do you think - I cannot work it out. The reason for my question is that DD actually lost weight this week (30g) and this worries me. All the other weeks have been gains but at the lower end of the scale. So basically my question is - is she hungry or not? Thanks so much for taking the time to answer!
